What do I do with this?
This is a plugin for Ambrosia Software's latest Mac game "Escape Velocity". To install it all you need to do is drop it into the 'plugins folder' which came with version 1.0.1 of the game. If you already have other plugins installed you may want to make sure that there is no ID clash between them and my plugin. If there is feel free to edit the IDs (but ONLY the IDs) for my plugin.
What does it do?
LBE-1 adds 5 new weapons and one new ship, they are detailed further below. There are also new dësc, oütf, PICT, snd and spïn resources to accommodate for these additions.

What is LBE Enterprises?
LBE Enterprises is a new Outfitter company which has recently come to life in Escape Velocity. They specialise in weaponary, ship upgrades, ship variations and distributing explosives in the guise of small stuffed furry pandas. (This last point is still a rumour and is as yet unproven)
Their prime concern is with adding more practical and efficient weapons and battleships to the market. Rather than creating new ships they buy old designs and drastically upgrade them to take full advantage of their new weapons.

Weapon Descriptions
Poton Repeater: The Proton Repeater Canon is essentially the coming together of a gatling gun and a Proton Bolt Canon. Its rapid fire means and comparitive lightness makes it a great boon to the small fighter who can only carry so many guns.
Plasma Turret: A small bank is attached to the ships upside or underside. This bank can fire a beam of directed energy in any direction and can be invaluable for larger ships trying to shrug aside pesky little interceptors. Unfortuantly the only practical method of supplying its ammo was to draw it directly from the fuel-tanks, so be careful not to leave yourself stranded in the middle of a heated dog-fight!
Spearheads: Spearheads are the first of LBEs range of 'inertia missiles' which require no guidance or even fuel, making them light and cheap. The attacker simply points his/her fighter at a stationary enemy vessel and accelerates. When the time seems right, the missiles are released and are carried forward by the inertia of the ship at the same speed and heading. Because of the fact that they can be almost simultaneously released and do a lot of damage, they are the ideal choice for the strike bomber.
Caltrops: On medieval Earth Caltrops were small peices of twisted metal which were thown on the path to disable any passing horses - they were both vicious and effective. Now they are small space-going mines which are launched from the rear of the ship and sit and wait until an enemy vessel strays into them... and BOOM!
Chaff: Chaff is a small cloud of floating debris which both confuses missiles, and attracts them. If there is a missiles hot on your tail release some of this stuff and you shouldn't need to worry. Invaluable for smaller ships who want to run circles around cruisers. {NB: Releasing too much chaff seems to create a bug where a lot of weapons are no longer drawn during battle. If this happens let me know, it should be fine after restarting.}
Ship Descriptions
LBE Enterprise 'Cobra' Strike-Bomber: The Cobra has been designed to take full advantage of all of LBE's newly developed weapons. Designed by Christopher Hersey over a period of three years, it is stronger, faster, more maneuverable and better armed than any warship currently available. It comes with two Repeater Canons plus a Plasma Turret, Caltrop Layer, Chaff Launcher, Spearhead Rack and a Torpedo Launcher just for good measure.
The Cobra is a Strike-Bomber, this means that it is designed to go in fast, deliver a powerful payload, and get out of range before the target can fire back while leaving Chaff to ward of retaliatory missiles. They have been known to succesfully disable Rapiers, Corvettes and even Rebel Destroyers. {So far I've only heard of one person who's managed to take out a Confed Cruiser...}

The plugin was put together by David Simon primarily using the EV Resource Bible and ResEdit. The Graphics (including the Sprites) were all hand-drawn using Claris Works and Expert Colour Paint.
